The Washington Horse Racing Commission held a special meeting June 29, 2026, to consider a request from Emerald Downs to move four Friday race dates in August onto weekend cards. Commissioners heard an extended presentation from Phil Ziegler (Emerald Downs president), public comment from trainers and owners, then voted to approve the request and later approved travel for a staff memorial service.
