The Board of Estimates voted June 16 to certify the city’s real and personal property tax rates for fiscal 2026 after the City Council and the mayor’s office reached agreement on the operating and capital budget and local school contributions, officials said.
The Baltimore City Board of Estimates voted June 16 to certify the city’s real and personal property tax rates for fiscal year 2026 after the City Council and the mayor’s administration reached agreement on the operating and capital budget, Council Chairwoman Danielle McCrae said.
McCrae, chair of the City Council’s Budget and Appropriations Committee, told the Board that the council and the mayor’s office had resolved outstanding issues on the proposed fiscal 2026 budget and local contributions to Baltimore City Public Schools. “I’m pleased to report the city council has reached an agreement with the mayor and his administration regarding a proposed fiscal year 20 26 budget, the tax rate, and local contributions to Baltimore City Public Schools,” McCrae said.
Laura Larson, director of the Bureau of Budget Management and Research, told the Board the tax-rate certifications were unchanged from recommendations the Board received in early May. Larson said the real property tax rate remains unchanged from fiscal 2025 at $2.2488 per $100 of assessed value and that “the personal property tax is $5.62 per $100 of assessed value.”
President Cohen called the special meeting to order and said the Board had two items on the agenda: receipt of the council’s fiscal 2026 Ordinance of Estimates and certification of the real and personal property tax rates. After Larson’s presentation, a Board member moved to certify the tax rates; the motion was seconded, members answered “aye,” and the president said the motion carries.
The Board adjourned after certifying the rates. The president noted the Board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 18 at 9 a.m.
