Beaufort County names Jean M. Felix director of Board of Voter Registration and Elections

Beaufort County announced that Jean M. Felix has been chosen as director of the Board of Voter Registration and Elections, effective Monday, Feb. 2. The county said Felix currently serves as training and outreach coordinator at the main voter registration office in Beaufort.

Felix has served on the county Board of Voter Registration and Elections since her governor's appointment in March 2020, the county said, serving nearly three years on the board and the last two years as the board's chair. The announcement, read on the county's local broadcast, described her prior work history, including seven years as gift shop manager at the Parris Island Museum and community involvement in local youth sports.

According to the county announcement, Felix has coached soccer for 25 years and is the head coach of the Battery Creek High School women's soccer team; she also volunteers as a coach with Beaufort County Parks and Recreation and works year-round as a soccer and basketball referee. The broadcast said she is married to Joseph and they have five children.

The county directed listeners to a press release with further details on the county website. Felix will assume the director position on Feb. 2, when the county's Board of Voter Registration and Elections will have its new administrative lead in place.
