At its March 11 meeting the Kanosh Town Council unanimously approved the February minutes and March warrants, appointed Jennifer Woods to planning and zoning, authorized Pelorus access for the sexton, approved laptop and VoIP purchases, accepted multiple public-works bids and agreed to apply for Corn Creek design funds.
KANOSH, Utah — The Kanosh Town Council on March 11, 2026 approved a series of routine and project-related actions, including appointing a new planning and zoning member, awarding public-works contracts and authorizing technology purchases.
The council unanimously approved the February meeting minutes and the March warrants. Council Member Josh Whitaker moved to approve the minutes; Council Member Dan DeGraffenried seconded. Later in the meeting Council Member Brian Batt moved to approve the warrants, with Tim White seconding; all votes were recorded Aye.
Jennifer Woods was appointed to fill a vacant planning and zoning seat after a nomination and unanimous council vote. The council also agreed to grant Pelorus accounting-software access to the town sexton, Liz Whitaker, so cemetery records can be digitized; Clerk Cindy Turner said the capability exists in the town's current contract and no additional charge was expected.
The council approved a $325 town contribution requested by Samantha Johnson of the YW for the community Easter Egg Hunt; Johnson said the group used roughly 1,200 eggs last year across three age groups.
Mayor Wenda Crabb requested authorization to apply for design-phase grant funds for the Corn Creek irrigation/dam project. Hayden George told the council that planning-phase work would be fully covered by the grant and that easements or payments may be required later if the project proceeds. The council voted unanimously to apply for the design funds.
On capital and operating technology, the council authorized purchase of two business-grade laptops (budgeted under $1,500 each) for staff use and approved moving forward with a GoTo VoIP phone system to provide a single advertised number that will route calls to town hall and the fire station. The mayor outlined estimated costs of about $60 per month for service, roughly $400 for equipment and an estimated $465 for setup and training; the purchase passed by unanimous vote.
The council awarded multiple public-works contracts after reviewing bids. For directional boring at two Main Street locations the council accepted the lower responsive bid from Tushar ($20,000). The council accepted Sagers' low bid of $2,790 for trenching on 100 East from 300 North to 600 North. For trenching to the new chlorination building the council eliminated one noncompliant bid and accepted Sagers' adjusted low bid of $143,432. All contract awards were approved unanimously.
Council Member Tim White reported that the park slide is obsolete; the council authorized up to $4,000 for replacement and installation of new playground equipment. Council members reiterated that larger maintenance and construction costs tied to projects such as Corn Creek would be reviewed as budgets are developed.
The council also reviewed the monthly utility delinquency list and agreed to follow existing town policy for accounts in arrears. Contractor Ben Coray provided a progress update on the new well house: concrete walls and interior conduit are installed, a floor and roof remain, and the well pump installation will follow; full startup will await permanent power.
With no further business the council adjourned. The council recorded unanimous Aye votes on all motions noted above.
