Summary
A civil engineer presented a preliminary and final plat for a proposed Racetrack fuel station at Tower Road and Oddfellows Road, describing a 6,100-square-foot building with 16 gasoline pumps and three diesel pumps; the committee will vote on a recommendation at the next meeting.
A developer's engineer traveled from Baton Rouge to present a proposed Racetrack fuel station and subdivision plat for roughly 50 acres of Limco and PBN-owned property at the Tower Road and Oddfellows Road corner across from Walmart and Walgreens.
John Thompson, a DDG civil engineer, said the plan includes a new 6,100-square-foot convenience building, an auto-style fuel canopy, 16 gasoline pumps and three diesel pumps, and a dedicated truck/diesel area. Thompson said the project consolidates several parcels into a single Track A for the racetrack development and that the planning commission has recommended the proposal; the committee will consider its recommendation and vote next week. Thompson described the prototype as similar to other Racetrack/ Raceway designs in Louisiana.
Committee members asked about site control and location relative to the stop-sign and adjacent businesses; Thompson confirmed the site is a former rice field on property identified locally as Limco and said the development team will pursue preliminary and final plat approvals through the council.
Because the meeting lacked a quorum for a formal zoning vote, the presentation was received as informational and will return for a formal vote when the council convenes with a quorum.
