Georgetown council names three to election board and three alternates

The Georgetown Town Council voted to appoint Shirley Hitchens (Ward 2), Francis Hayes (Ward 3) and Lisa Rolfing (Ward 4) to the town's board of election and approved three alternates at its meeting.

Chair (speaking for the council) read the list of candidates and opened nominations. Council members nominated and approved the three primary appointees by voice vote; thereafter the council selected alternates identified in the transcript as a resident with the last name Karp, Kathy Lynn, and Ruth Ann Spicer. The motions were seconded and carried with no recorded opposition.

The council discussed the goal of geographic representation when choosing board members, citing an effort to pick at least one candidate from each ward though Ward 1 was not represented among the applicants.
