Summary
The Erie County Board of Elections approved Resolution 1 of 2026 to finalize the primary ballot layout and voted to change several polling locations—moves officials say aim to improve space, accessibility and precinct alignment; the board detailed voter-notification plans and estimated postcard outreach costs.
The Erie County Board of Elections voted to approve the ballot layout for the county’s general primary and authorized several polling-location changes at its meeting.
The board approved Resolution 1 of 2026, which certifies the county’s primary ballot layout and associated offices. Members then considered and approved four polling-location changes, including moving two Harbor Creek Township precincts to South Harbor Creek United Methodist Church, relocating Fairview’s polling place from Lyce Library to Walnut Creek Baptist Church because the library has closed, shifting Harbor Creek District 1 from Faith Lutheran Church to East Lake Road Alliance Church, and moving Park Creek District 2 from East Lake Road Alliance Church to Faith Lutheran Church.
Board officials said the Harbor Creek change was prompted by crowding and the need for more space; one member noted the new location is about 3.5 miles from the prior site but remains inside the precinct. On the Fairview change, members said the relocation is about 2.3 miles and was necessary because the library building is no longer available. Members discussed proximity, parking and accessibility for each change.
Elections staff outlined voter-notification plans for the location changes: updated voter ID letters, legal notices, website and social-media posts, and a bright reminder postcard. "If we did all the changes here today, that would cost between $750 and $1,000 to send them postcards," the elections official said. Staff said postcards would supplement the required mailed voter ID to reduce the chance voters miss the change.
All motions were moved and seconded and carried on roll call. The chair called for prompt notification to affected voters; staff said they will post notices at each polling district and use multiple outreach channels.
